Rundle Street’s BRKLYN bar and eatery is an ode to New York City’s hippest, most popular borough. But this ain’t your average neighbourhood watering hole.

Boasting a fully functioning barbershop, New York–style deli and radio station all under one roof, this epic venue is your go-to for cold cuts, fine liquors and live studio sounds in Adelaide.

With bar-staff clad in appropriately hipster short-sleeve button-up shirts, New York–inspired subway tiles, hanging pendant lights and Brooklyn brownstone vibes, the atmosphere is equal parts cool, casual and sophisticated; high end, but not exclusive. You’ll be treated to expertly crafted cocktails and great service, without the pretention.

Ninety per cent of BRKLYN’s produce is sourced locally, with the final 10% imported to add the all important signature flavour profiles of classic New York dishes. Those dill pickles accompanying your reuben sandwich? Sourced directly from Brooklyn, of course.

The diner-inspired menu features beer-worthy snacks like Old Bay popcorn, eggplant and feta croquettes, and a selection of deli-fresh cold cuts and cheese. For something more substantial, tuck into the lobster roll with herbed mayo, pickled celery and watercress in brioche, a chipotle chicken toastie with swiss cheese, caramelised onion and chipotle mayo, or a pastrami reuben sandwich with provolone, sauerkraut and secret sauce on rye, with dill pickle and crisps.

Drinks-wise, you’ll find a selection of old and new world gin, mouth-watering aperitifs, a selection of local and South Australian wine, craft beer and an inventive cocktail list. For a true taste of Brooklyn, try the New York Sour – a lip-smacking blend of rye whisky, lemon, egg white and red wine float. For an updated twist on a classic favourite, the Roast Coconut Old Fashioned is a warm and toasty number complete with roast coconut washed rum, bitters and sugar.

At BRKLYN, half the pleasure is in taking a perch at the bar and watching your surrounds hum and bustle like an actual neighbourhood. Or if you’re more of a booth person, each individual booth space comes with a view of Rundle Street, which is sure to satiate the most avid of people-watchers.

Whether you pop in mid-week for a relaxed tipple or casual bite, or hang around for the weekend when the party really kicks off, BRKYLN is New York–cool, meets Adelaide-casual in the greatest possible way.
