Escape to France without renewing your passport with a visit to Prahran’s latest cafe and deli, Chez Mademoiselle. Elegant and feminine yet bold and cheeky, Chez Mademoiselle offers Parisian pastries, sumptuous wines and delicate tea and coffee options for a French-inspired experience in the streets of the world’s most liveable city.
Located on gorgeous Greville Street, Chez Mademoiselle is the brainchild of Sylvain and Tiffany Bernard. The French born couple are not strangers to Melbourne’s epic hospitality scene, in fact, they also own Chez Olivier – the French restaurant located next door. While Chez Mademoiselle is more pared back than its older sibling, it retains the French charm that Melburnians have come to know and love in their first venture.
Offering a selection of colourful macarons, fresh croissants, delectable desserts and simple breakfast and lunch options, Chez Mademoiselle is the ultimate place to unwind and take a moment to relax within the lush surrounds. These offerings can all be enjoyed with a glass of French wine, or perhaps a pot of tea or freshly brewed coffee.
Sylvain and Tiffany have enlisted the help of Melbourne design agency, Studio Y to create the stunning fit-out at Chez Mademoiselle. Inspired by the modern French woman who conceptualised it, the luxurious space is composed of many personalities. As you enter the door, soft hues and bold line-work greet you, allowing you to take a moment to appreciate the offerings.
The rear of the cafe is a more feminine combination of floral wallpaper, purple velvet upholstery and ravishing pink hues. It is this space, the ‘ladies lounge’, that truly showcases the boldness that reflects both high fashion and the strong woman who inspired the space.
Chez Mademoiselle is a chic space, reminiscent of the Champs-Elysées’ finest patisseries. Created by French born hospitality guns, you can rest assured that this gorgeous cafe is as French as you can get without leaving the country.
