There are no better hands to be in when it comes to women’s health than BeActive Physio. Owner, Shira Kramer, has created a centre dedicated to the needs of women, integrating physiotherapy with fitness in a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment guided by professionals.
Shira is an industry leader in exercise programming for pre- and post-natal women. She has years of experience as a trained women’s health physiotherapist, fitness leader, presenter and business leader, having spoken both domestically and internationally about the topic. Her passion for keeping females healthy is best reflected in her own active lifestyle – she’s a regular marathon runner, has a penchant for trapeze and most importantly, is now a mother to son Rafael. With extensive experience designing and presenting programs to physiotherapists and fitness professionals, Shira was more than qualified to open BeActive in 2006, a space dedicated to the overall health and wellbeing of women.
10 years on, BeActive is a testament to Shira’s passion for inspiring women to live and breathe active lives. With a particular emphasis on the pelvic floor, she is especially passionate about supporting pregnant women in preparation for labour and empowering new mums for the physical demands of motherhood. She has hand-selected a team of highly experienced physiotherapists who are equally as enthusiastic, with each boasting postgraduate qualifications in women’s health and comprehensive experience in customising exercise programs.
There are a variety of services on offer for women of all ages and life stages, including physiotherapy for pre- and postnatal, osteoporosis, rehabilitation for pelvic floor muscles and abdominal muscle separation; clinical Pilates; exercise and fitness; dry needling and real-time ultrasound. A child minding service allows mothers with young children to participate fully in all sessions, with the peace of mind that their children are being looked after by a fully qualified nanny. That said, each class is also child-friendly, with plenty of toys to keep young minds occupied.
Even Rafael pops by every now and then! There are more than 60 classes on offer every week, with a daily schedule that includes weekends and after hours training. Clients have been known to travel more than an hour to attend a session, while mothers with their hands full of children make it a priority to get to classes. With such expert help on hand, it’s no wonder why.
As promoters in the area of women’s health and fitness, BeActive also offers workshops and professional development sessions, increasing the knowledge of others working in the industry. These workshops travel nationally, while Shira presents at fitness conferences in both Australia and internationally.
BeActive is the perfect space for women to take time out of their busy lives and become empowered, inspired, supported and nurtured. With the support of such experienced professionals you can overcome the barriers of childcare, time and motivation to feel confident in achieving your health and fitness goals.
