You don’t have to fly to the Dead Sea to experience floating. Elevation Floatation and Yoga has brought the concept to our shores, introducing a zero-gravity experience that helps you unwind, relax and rejuvenate.
‘Floating’ is the practice of spending time in a tank, room or pod that is enclosed, soundproof and lightproof, with 40cm of water mixed with 600kg of the highest grade Epsom salts. The density of the water creates an experience that separates you from the outside world, allowing you to elevate your mind, body and potential.
The brainchild of Dinuka Bandara and Shahin Motamedi, Elevation Floatation and Yoga is their first venture into the wellness scene. Together with their studio manager Aiden Kramer, these long-time health advocates were very excited to share this unique experience. Having experienced spiritual growth during their early twenties, they aim to spread the word about wellness, relaxation and creativity.
If the idea of floating intrigues you, Elevation is the place to try it. The centre is the first combined floatation, yoga and creative centre. The modern and welcoming premises serves as a perfect platform to help customers become better versions of themselves. There are three areas: the float rooms, the yoga studio and the BreakOut space.
The Dreampod V2s are sleek and stylish inner spaceships designed to transport the user to a world of absolute calm and tranquillity, where the anxieties and stress of modern life just drift away. The water and air temperature is matched to your skin temperature and all visual, audible and physical stimulation are removed to ensure you can truly relax. The buoyancy of the salty water means you can float away – and even fall asleep!
Elevation also offers a more active style of yoga founded upon the Hatha and Vinyasa arms of the discipline. The team of experienced, professional instructors lead students through the two styles in a noncompetitive and encouraging atmosphere, all within the spacious light-filled studio.
The final element of the venue is the BreakOut space. Designed specifically by Dinuka and Shahin, it’s a spot where participants can slowly readjust to the outside world and gather their thoughts after their floating or yoga session.
It can also be used for informal meetings, collaborative work, ideas generation and personal expression. The sense of community and opportunity for creativity is paramount in the message they wish to spread.
Elevation Floatation and Yoga is a space designed to help individuals contribute to their overall wellbeing. It may be new to the wellness scene, but it’s the missing piece of the puzzle the industry has been looking for.
