Glenferrie Road is a mecca of delectable food and drink offerings and the latest venue to join the strip is no different.
Finding a home in the heart of Hawthorn, ATE ONE ATE serves eclectic flavour combinations in a space that expertly balances relaxed and refined dining.
The venue is the first solo venture for restauranteur Stephen Papagelou (Villa Romana, Yaya’s Hellenic Kitchen & Bar). Stephen wanted to create a restaurant that offered beautiful food in an artistically designed, contemporary setting.
ATE ONE ATE offers a diverse selection of innovative breakfast, lunch and dinner creations in a way that can only be described as modern Australian with European influences. Stephen’s menu is an eclectic coupling of flavours from across the globe.
Breakfast options are far from predictable at the 180-seater space. The addition of pomegranate and a red wine balsamic reduction to the avocado smash puts a twist on a much loved favourite, while innovative creations have been well received, examples include the carrot hot dog – whole meal bun, marinated carrot, German sauerkraut, black kale and vegan cheddar cheese, and the brioche French toast with fig compote, candied bacon and cinnamon syrup.
The lunch and dinner menu takes particular influence from Italy and is perfect for sharing with friends or family. Start with a full or half dozen oysters served with an optional Bloody Mary shot, before moving onto a saucy pasta – rabbit ragout pappardelle among the options – or crispy pizza.
For dessert, ATE ONE ATE offers a selection of cheeses, as well as a decadent chocolate ganache ball, served with cinnamon ice cream and the Coca de Former – a pizza base topped with sugar, pine nuts and chocolate.
There is a selection of 16 signature and classic cocktails, created by talented Bar Manager Hamish Paterson (Fall from Grace), as well as a comprehensive wine list including two wines on tap.
Enjoy the innovative food and drink at the artistically designed venue. Decked out in warm, coppery hues and accented with warm lights and tiled feature walls, ATE ONE ATE is sleek and modern.
Grab a window seat and watch the trams trundle down Glenferrie Road as you enjoy the flavoursome creations on offer at Stephen Papagelou’s ATE ONE ATE.
