You wouldn’t think that the world’s best gelato resides on a corner spot in Enmore. However, Cow and the Moon boasts just that, having taken out the title of the world’s best ice cream at the Gelato World Tour just last year.
The family-owned gelataria is now awash with customers, having exploded onto the scene after taking the crown. Owners John and Wendy Crowl, along with son Sam, pride themselves on using the best ingredients to make their mouth-watering products.

The family-run gelato and coffee bar has a gelato lab on-site, where new flavours are concocted and oldies are churned out daily, seven days a week. Only the freshest ingredients, including local milk, seasonal fruit and cream, are used, as well as carefully selected imported Italian products. Choose your flavour and bask in the sunshine in the airy, light-filled space, or pull up a chair in the corner window while watching locals pass by.
Cow and the Moon won the Gelato World Tour title for its delicious almond affogato gelato – a re-creation of the classic affogato – made up of a Madagascan vanilla base, swirled with caramelised almonds that are sourced from Italy with single origin coffee. If coffee isn’t your thing, don’t despair; Cow and the Moon has over 25 flavours to choose from. So don your stretchy pants, and get ready to indulge. Try the standard chocolate or passionfruit cream, as well as a mango and lemon sorbet. If you’re looking to mix it up, try rotating flavours such as Turkish delight, poached strawberries and balsamic sauce on a pannacotta base, or a smash of pistachio, turmeric and cardamom.
