The third public holiday in as many weeks, ANZAC Day provides an opportunity to thank past and current armed forces, with parades, a dawn service and later on, a pint over a game of 2UP.
We’ve found five venues that are celebrating in style, hosting 2UP tournaments, drink specials and what’s sure to be a whole lot of fun.
One of the pubs in the Inner West, Public House is throwing a epic car park party, with 2UP from 12pm and beers galore. Some of Australia’s favourite craft breweries, including Batch Brewing Company, Willie the Boatman, Stone & Wood Brewing and Malt Shovel Brewery will be setting up shop and serving up their brews, with proceeds of the first kegs tapped going to support Soldier On Australia. The Public House kitchen will be open all day, sitting alongside a sausage sizzle. For dessert, Daisy’s Milkbar is holding a charity bake sale, ensuring you won’t be going hungry anytime soon.

Located in the heart of Surry Hills, the Clock Hotel will be the place to be for inner-east ANZAC activities. From midday onwards there will be a 2UP tournament, held in the courtyard, and cold beers on tap. Make sure you try a beer from Hawkes Brewing, the brewery endorsed by Bob Hawke himself. If you don’t fancy yourself a brew, there will also be cocktails and spritzers to whet your whistle. Delicious Aussie dishes round out the offering, meaning you’ll be set for hours.
470 Crown St, Surry Hills
Celebrate ANZAC Day at ‘The Cloey’ this year. The gastropub will be home to the Eastern Suburbs’ largest 2UP game, as well as live entertainment and of course, free-flowing beers. In addition to the tournament, the ANZAC Test will be broadcast live in the Sports Bar. In between bets you can hoe into one of the many Aussie-themed specials coming hot from the kitchen.
381 Clovelly Rd, Clovelly NSW, 2031
For the most entertaining ANZAC Day in the Inner West, it’s hard to look past The Bank. Drag Queen, Tora Hymen, will once again be presiding over festivities, hosting 2UP from the glorious beer garden. With a 13-tap takeover featuring local brewers, Aussie BBQ specials from the charcoal BBQ, plus DJs all day and night, The Bank will be Newtown’s hottest spot.
324 King St, Newtown, 2042
The car park party continues at Rozelle’s Sackville. Doors open at 10am, welcoming patrons from all over to indulge in a cold tinnie from the local-leaning bar, an Aussie BBQ and live entertainment long into the night. Take a seat in the fantastic beer garden for an afternoon of fun, or stick to the car park – either way, you’re guaranteed a good time.
